The big V day is coming up and I can only assume that boyfriends all around America are having a hard time trying to figure out what to get their girlfriend (or boyfriend). No fret! I’m here to help. Girlfriends- feel free to send this to your boyfriend for gift ideas.
The totally obvious and necessary Valentines gift is flowers and chocolate, and while you should still get these for your love, here are a few more things to give if you want to go that extra step.
1. Cozy Cozy Cozy
Anything cozy, soft and warm is always a good gift. Whether it's slippers, robes, blankets, or sleepwear, your partner will love it because it just feels like a big warm hug. You can stay with the tried and true brands, Ugg and Barefoot Dreams, but I also highly recommend any one of the lunge collections from Skims.
Pro tip: Nordstrom has almost all Skims products on their site right now, so you don't have to wait for the next restock on the Skims site.
2. Anything that smells good
Just like the cozy gifts, you can really never go wrong with a product where its sole purpose is to make you or your environment smell good. A new perfume or luxury candle is such a luxury because of these three reasons. 1. The good smell obviously. 2. It can double as home decor. 3. A good perfume or candle is low-key pretty expensive, to the point where it's annoying to get for yourself but SO nice to receive as a gift.
Here are some of my favorites:
3. Jewelry, but done right
Jewelry is an obvious choice, but can be risky and difficult if you are not sure of your partners jewelry style. Take note of which metals she uses, if she has colored pieces, or sparkly ones. Does she like chunky or dainty items? If you are unsure, just skip the jewelry. I have listed a few “safe” jewelry choices here if you are still unsure. Most of these pieces are universal and will look with any style.
Pro tip: For the love of god, DO NOT get heart shaped jewelry. She will wear it once on your date because she does not want to be rude, and you will never see it again afterwards. It's just tacky.
4. Small Luxuries
If you are looking to spend a bit more on the love of your life, you can get a small luxury gift. Something like a silk scarf, a key-chain or belt from her favorite Designer. Take note of any designers she tends to gravitate towards and browse their Accessories section online. You would be surprised with what is available within the $200 - $500 range.
5. Set up a Nice Event
I know during this time we are very limited in what we can do, but the act of planning any specified quality time together will always be the most romantic gift of all. Really think of the times when you feel most connected with her. Where were you and what were you doing?
You can plan a picnic in the park, explore a different part of the city you’re in, cook dinner together, or have a movie night at home with a bunch of blankets and popcorn.
The best Valentines gifts will show your girlfriend how much you love and think about her. It's a day dedicated to spending quality time with the one you love while expressing the love and gratitude you have for each other, and that’s a beautiful thing.
