Creating my Dream Birthday

My birthday falls on a great date, June 21st. This date is the official start to the summer and the longest day of the year. Naturally people would have high expectations for how they will spend the longest day of the year, so having that day fall on a birthday is both a blessing and a curse. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my birthday and no matter what I always tend to start planning it months in advance. However with big expectations usually come disappointments. In my mind my birthday is the most magical day of the year, but somehow it still ends up less magical than I imagined.
This year is gonna be a little different. It is true that I was roughly planning my birthday as early as January, but with quarantine that plan has been shaken up a bit. Instead of trying to rally up a group of people to go to bars and brunches over the weekend I have decided to throw myself my own birthday party in my apartment, but for just a party of myself. I am done relying on other people for my happiness so this year I’m gonna rely on myself for a good time.
My party is going to be Rose themed (very onbrand for me.) Think pink and white colored decor, rose gold balloons and streamers, twinkle lights, tacos and guac, and of course tons of Rose. We also need some activities to do during the day. I want to wake up and have a self care moment, with a light workout followed by a detox bath while I sip on a bellini. I’ll probably put on some DCOM and take the time doing my hair and makeup. If the weather permits, I’ll then go on a walk and get some cocktails, maybe have a nice picnic in the park, the world is my oyster today!
This is the day I get to be selfish and I’m taking it. Quarantine has taught me that I don't need to be physically around a bunch of friends and family to be loved. It has also taught me to be okay with hanging out with me first so that I can give all of my attention to my friends when we’re around. That being said, one is always reminded on their birthday of how many people they have in their life, and that’s a beautiful thing.
Stay tuned for my after birthday post!
P.S. Please enjoy these photos from my past birthdays
